They don’t come out until Q4 2024. Synology _Surveillance Station_ — the app on your NAS, not in the cloud at all — is different than the cameras I looked at in the video. Surveillance Station is generally regarded to be very good, if you already have a Synology NAS. I overall like it from what I’ve tested/seen, but I don’t really have a serious deployment with it, so take that with a grain of salt. Chinese companies have an abysmal reputation regarding privacy and security in North America. I just set up a Ubiquiti network in my house and I was going to buy Ubiquiti’s cameras too, but they’re very expensive! Furthermore, I’m getting the sense that not only can I build a cheaper but potentially better alternative with Frigate and Chinese cameras. If I keep Frigate and Reolink cameras offline by isolating the cameras, is that enough to ensure my privacy and security? If I do want to watch the footage privately and securely, how would I do so? I also want to deploy hardware like Google Coral to process the feeds with AI.
