Google to have "Verified" badges on VPN app on Play Store

Google is implementing adding a badge to “verified” VPN apps on the Google Play Store.

Pretty sure they will also verify crappy and objectively poor VPN services are verified implying they are “legitimate” ones people ought to be or would be okay using.

Not sure this will solve the problem they are trying to - just like many of their YT issues they are unable to or unwilling to properly resolve but only continue to focus on AI.

In other words, shitty company does a shitty thing for continued shitty experience. People forget - Google is an ad company, not a tech company. They just leverage tech to meet their ad goals and to weaponize/monetize your data for their own benefit while convincing the world of actual services they provide that’s actually beneficial more to their users for some reason and somehow.

Lack of critical thinking skills will be the death of intelligent discourse in society at large.

Their intention is to prevent people from installing malicious apps which look like the one they are searching for.
