According to [9to5Google](https://9to5google.com/2026/01/27/android-desktop-leak/), a [bug report](https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/479094248) (currently inaccessible) about Chrome Incognito tabs leaked the desktop interface for the upcoming AluminiumOS, Google’s merging of ChromeOS and Android.

Google, an American company uses the American spelling Alumimun as stated in the article you linked.

Perhaps it’s prudent to also use the same spelling though I’m not sure it would even qualify as inaccurate with the other spelling.

Anyways, just pointing it out.

In their previous leaks they called it [Aluminium](https://www.androidauthority.com/aluminium-os-android-for-pcs-3619092/), likely to keep consistent with Chromium. It might just be the code name though, we’ll have to wait and see what the final name is.

They must’ve made a typo in their article.

I wonder if there will be a GOS variant?

Do current chromebooks adhere to the [GOS hardware requirements](https://grapheneos.org/faq#future-devices)? Otherwise, that’d be a nonstarter

No they do not.

The OS is listed as Android, so it’s probably the case that Aluminium OS is just a renamed future version of Android that has a working desktop mode. We can’t know until it officially releases. If it is just Android, grpaheneOs is probably going to make a variant of it.
