I realize I’ve been using search engines for definitions, this seems like a no brainer option to maybe recommend. Regardless, I’m shopping around for options, wanted to see what FOSS offline dictionary apps may be viable.
I looked for one some time ago. It’s surprisingly hard to find a proper offline dictionary nowadays, even one that isn’t open source.
I settled on QuickDic and have been using it ever since. For words, it pulls data from Wiktionary, so there are quite a few languages to choose from. It’s not fancy and might occasionally break on a new Android version (it happened once in the past because it doesn’t update often) but it gets the job done for the most part.
I can recommend Offline Translator. Allows you to download dictionairies, mark text in any app and show the entry as a pop up.
QuickDic works well enough for me, and having it be downloadable and offline is great. Thanks!
