Do any of the major US-based “privacy” companies and organisations support payment or donations using Monero? Signal, Mozilla, Kagi, DuckDuckGo etc.? Maybe the avoidance is fear of regulatory repercussions. Signal seem to support Zcash at least but I don’t know if that implies shielded.
To play devils advocate and to cool off the post, they aren’t a privacy focused business. I see security in their product, but it’s not necessarily build bottom up with privacy in mind. It’s likely better business to support the top used cryptocurrency to increase conversion on their side. They did it through stripe, so they are using a third party they likely are already integrated with for payment processing. To integrate into it suggestion would require even more integration work, and they aren’t targeting the truly anonymous crowd with Monero, and the market slice for Monero users for a non dedicated privacy service is not quite a good business choice. I’ll be extremely surprised if they tackle that challenge.
But yeah, I don’t consider this a huge privacy boost as Stripe can and will fully analyze the transaction for fraud detection to their fullest capabilities, crypto or not.
EDIT: blame payment service providers for not allowing Monero, but I doubt they want to take that sort of risk
We have plans to use BTCPayServer in the near future (e.g. in order to support Monero) and already have done extensive R&D on this (think fullstack implementation planned out with code references etc.).
BTCPayServer will replace Stripe Crypto on our side at that time as well most likely. We’re well aware of Monero as well.
That’s not true. Our service is in fact completely designed for the privacy crowd, if you read our website you would understand this. Please go through some of these posts to understand our technical implementation.
We appreciate your feedback and glad to hear from all of you.
Just a permanent bitcoin address attached to your account or monero one time address generation or Lightning invoice generation / btcpayserver
would be far better these coinbase, wallet connect, phantom, polygon, solana, etherium, stripe crypto (these are all shit solutions)
just see how https://jmp.chat handle crypto payments, thats far better approach.
Thanks a lot and sorry if my post was a bit aggressive, this will hopefully put you above in terms of privacy and anonymity than current competitors. Good luck!
Hi folks – we just released a new case study with Ubuntu:

P.S. Likely the last of these for now; we’re sharing since this provides transparency into our service and helps build public trust.
How can I best convince my university’s IT department to adopt Forward Mail? Hypothetically speaking of course
Just wanted to follow-up here. We’re excited to announce the initial release of Forward Emails Self-Hosted email stack!
This is a commitment to 100% open source and privacy focus. I hope this will give folks confidence in the offering and effort thats gone in as a whole thus far. Would love to hear any feedback / concerns / etc.

As highly requested from the Privacy Guides community… we have finally released the first version of our technical whitepaper!
You can read it at: https://forwardemail.net/technical-whitepaper.pdf
It is also linked on the homepage, navbar, and footer of every page on our site at https://forwardemail.net.
Since everything we do is open-source, the whitepaper itself will be open-sourced on GitHub in the near future, including all of the Markdown, the tools, templating, and pandoc scripts we used to publish it. We have automation in place so that it can be auto-published via GitHub CI as well after any revisions/PR’s are made!

@jonah + team: could you add a mention to the other Forward Email topic that we’ve published a whitepaper as well (?). There was a lot of demand in that topic I think for it and some folks eagerly wanting to see it.
Happy to answer any questions, either here, DM, our Matrix chat, or by email to nick@forwardemail.net.
Since it is a technical whitepaper, I feel it may be worth mentioning that you earn much more favour from the security and cryptography communities if you only use ‘zero knowledge’ in the context of zero knowledge proofs and cryptography. For example SpiderOak from a while ago changed their literature for their ‘zero knowledge’ encrypted storage solution to ‘no knowledge’ for their less technical audience https://web.archive.org/web/20220729130648/https://medium.com/@SpiderOak/why-we-will-no-longer-use-the-phrase-zero-knowledge-to-describe-our-software-ddef2593a489.

Using a UK domain for EU would be pretty odd.

We fixed most of the artwork but it looks like those books in that image missed our QC process. Thanks for the heads up. They’ll be fixed shortly. We ship quickly.
Edit: Fixed already
We’ve posted a request for the Privacy Guides team at the following discussion thread: https://discuss.privacyguides.net/t/email-service-recommendations-forward-email-rfi-x-re-evaluation-of-existing-services/28576
And here comes the FUD. I was going to try it, but I’m glad I’ve never even tried the service.
