I don’t personally use Floorp, but I find this news pretty interesting, as far as I know this is the first Firefox fork to come to iOS. They’re also working on Manifest V3 extension support, which hasn’t really happened on iOS before except for Orion browser, and now I’m interested in checking out the browser.
If you’re a Floorp user, what’s your take on the browser?
Floorp for iOS is a web browser for iPhone and iPad built on Mozilla Firefox for iOS.
It is not a direct port of the desktop Floorp codebase; we are developing it separately for iOS.
So it looks like it’s just a fork of Firefox on iOS, nothing really new here. Also their site is full of ads it’s really annoying.
Reading your post I was thinking it was a port of the Gecko engine to iOS but seems that’s not the case.
I’m not so excited about the MV3 extensions because iOS has already had similar security features for extensions for a long time.
