Call to action: Congress pushing identity verification and more next week - call your reps

:police_car_light:Call to action: identity verification being pushed in Congress - call to OPPOSE

Set a reminder for yourself to call your congressional representatives tomorrow! We can’t let the government dismantle more of our digital freedom on Big Tech’s behalf.

The KIDS Act would bring identity verification across the Internet, stripping away any expectation of privacy online. This bill includes the Kids Online Safety Act, as well as the App Store Accountability Act in the Senate version.

From Fight for the Future:
:double_exclamation_mark: Bad Internet Bills, disguised as “kids safety” bills, are moving through Congress again :double_exclamation_mark:

It’s time to get those phones in Congress ringing off the hooks again w/ one simple message: we refuse any bill that age restricts, censors & surveils the Internet

And the House’s KIDS act:

Let me know if you are speaking specifically about a different bill that I missed.

I find it deeply suspicious that this zombie comes back to life at the same time Chat Control claws its way out of the grave across the Atlantic.

The only silver lining right now is that the House and Senate bills have some substantive differences and even among the majority party they are not getting along to even do the easy stuff right now.

If the bill goes into hibernation again over disagreements, we’ll take it lol

It sucks to be fighting this fight at the same time as advocates are overwhelmed around the world dealing with measures in their own countries. At the same time, we’re in it together and it’s validating to see that our concerns were real.
