[Bitwarden](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bitwarden-password-manager/id1137397744) releases version 2024.8.1 with migration to native swift code and refreshed UI.

I have updated the title to better describe what is happening. The biggest thing with this new release is indeed the move to native Swift code, and the small UI update is mostly just a result of that. Bitwarden still has plans for a complete UI redesign, which will come after the [new browser extension](https://bitwarden.com/blog/bringing-intuitive-workflows-and-visual-updates-to-the-bitwarden-browser/) is released later this year. This was also discussed in the latest [Vault Hours](https://bitwarden.com/events/vault-hours-43/), which you can still watch if you like.

Finally, some good news regarding Bitwarden: I hope it feels less clunky than before.

I hope they shift to native apps for all other platforms too.

They’re in the process of rewritting their Android client in Kotlin.

Let’s see if they use Rust for the desktop + Qt which would be better than 1Password who use Rust + Electron. And by Kotlin, I guess, it would be Material Design based but with their own theming applied.

Yes, they will be using Jetpack Compose for the UI.

You mean an approach similar to 1Pasword using the electron cancer :sob:

Not sure what Electron has to do with Jetpack Compose, but Electron is indeed cancer.

Never mind, I thought you were speaking of Desktop apps.

It seems live now ! I had the beta with the Google groups thing but I uninstalled it because the normal app has changed !
It can handle passkeys too  Like for Uber, addy it works.

Seems like it is still a beta release from [what i can find](https://github.com/bitwarden/android/releases). It just doesn’t require a separate dedicated app to try the beta. Instead, they went the normal route and used the native beta enrollment of play store.

No, I am not enrolled in the beta for Bitwarden in the Play Store

edit : you can also.look at the screenshots in the app description in the play store. They were updated

You are right, they have updated the screenshots to showcasing the new native app. Latest version for me is 2024.7.1 (which is still the old app), It might be a rollout.

I have 2023.8.1. However, in the play store, it shows 2024.7.1 in the app description idk what is happening bc I really don’t think I was in beta !! Anyway, it’s coming that’s good :high_voltage:
