They are based in Italy.
I think the Email provider looks good. What is your opinion on it?

What a bad name for an email provider. Considering the other email provider you posted is a very sketchy company I wouldn’t trust this. Also Proton, Tutunota and Skiff are already pretty good options

Hello, yes the other one was very sketchy i found out later but i think its one looks solid.

I don’t like the idea of having to request an account. Also Italy is a Fourteen Eyes country. Neither of these are the worst things in the world but I’m not seeing much I do like about it. Most of their site seems to be about what politics they don’t like instead of what privacy and security benefits they offer.

> Any kind of misuse or abuse may result in account deletion without further notice.

Some thoughts:

- PG recommends Monero whereas this email provider explicitly says cryptocurrency is a TOS violation:

> Using the Services for cryptocurrency related activities;

- Users would need to be careful if they do not violate this section. I’m not really sure what it is prohibiting here:

> Using the Services in order to promote institutional political parties or any other organization that already has the financial resources to widely spread its own content and ideas, or those who use the concept of (explicit or implicit) delegation and representation in its day-to-day relationships and projects.

- Users who lawfully purchase firearms and/or ammunition online may not want to choose this provider:

> Using the Services for any military purpose, including information or training material about firearms and related combat techniques, cyberwarfare, weapons development and manufacture.

Sounds like some far left or far right activism website. Not saying “institutional political parties” are good but really odd to have this in the TOS.

Their main page is quite clear that they’re politically motivated so not really that strange: [https://www.autistici.org/](https://www.autistici.org/)

> […] was born in 2001 from an encounter of individuals and collectives of the autonomous anticapitalist movement
> […] we are motivated and inspired by the principles of solidarity and self organization.

Which I think disqualifies them from being recommended here, since most people won’t be accepted by them.

> We provide our services strictly for non-commercial use, in order to provide support exclusively to individuals or groups we feel we have an affinity with.

Very political.

Give them the answers they want to hear and move on creating an e-mail.

it is a matter of time until they become anti-you  .

Imagine greeting someone and say hey! I’m X and I’m anti… and goes on.

That would be weird. But that is quite different from what is screnshotted above.

They are offering _free services_ to those who align with their social and ethical values and are working towards what they consider positive social change. That isn’t so unreasonable considering they are offering for free, services that cost them real money to provide and that they could not provide to everyone. They are an all volunteer organization, funded by voluntary donations, it is quite common in this context to restrict signups to individuals and organizations with somewhat aligned missions and values, and to those who truly need it.

I am not familiar with this group, but I’ve encountered many activist and public interest organizations like this, and I don’t see anything wrong with it.

If you want a service that provides a service regardless of ethics, social values , etc, it is as simple as choosing any of the many reputable _ **paid** _ service providers, they will happily take your money regardless of politics or purpose.

I would not take this serious just from the name

## Post 15 by @jerm — 2024-01-20T05:33:36Z

it is definitely not for everyone, so no option to consider it on PG.

Was the USA government able to shut this down because it used a .org domain? From what I can make out the PIR control the .org domain, and so the A/I .org domain was under the control of a US registry?

If this is the case, are any domains safer to use to avoid censure by the USA government?

Totally depends on what your gonna be putting on it.

.st might be good for “free speech” but maybe not so good for piracy.

.to, .ph, .gd, .gl, .li, etc seem to be better for piracy. .org is also decent for piracy but not against a US court order.

onion services (.onion) are pretty hard to censor.

Probably something russian would be good for something the US doesn’t like.

I would say the domain name is not a huge deal compared with hosting as you can easily set up a new domain name. As we’ve seen with cyberleek’s site: [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/GTA6unmoderated/comments/1vtdtl6/all_official_cyberleek_sites_as_of_right_now/)

And anna’s archive.

But it would be ideal to not have to change in the first place as it allows scams and people have to find the new link.
