That’s what happened as well with my old Xiaomi with global rom, unlocking the bootloader requires you to login to your Xiaomi account.

yes, they’re just out of band updates via apex modules (like apks for system components)

counting vulns is, again, not a useful way to measure the relative security of two systems nor the absolute security of a system.

The idea of a hardware backdoor to someone on the Internet is a nightmare for me! 
Yes but Samsung seems to offer longer security updates than most phone manufacturers even on their midrange phones
