I have an ipad air 2 that’s broken and hasn’t been turned on in years, and it uses the appleid that I’m currently using to turn on ADP. My windows PC is also logged into itunes and apple on my browser, and I don’t know how I can turn on ADP at this point. You can share your iCloud plan with your family although I’m not sure if iOS 15 supports that. The encryption requires a Secure Enclave on each device to generate and protect the encryption keys. Devices that lack a Secure Enclave cannot physically support ADP. There is also a software requirement so devices that are not or cannot upgrade to OS versions that support ADP cannot use it. This should not be surprising. As for a family member being on the same Apple ID….i have no words as that makes zero sense. Apple IDs are free and sharing for paid features has been built in for years. This appleid was made years ago when I got my first iphone. Didn’t put my real name or anything of that sort on this account, and when my dad got an iphone instead of creating a new account for him (he’s not tech savvy, and more prone to just losing his pw or something), I logged in on his phone using this account and it’s been that way ever since. All storage is local. Idk why apple is even bothering me to log out of that device. --- ## Post 10 by @anon64393658 — 2024-11-30T20:12:40Z It’s because if you are still logged on then it is a trusted device for iCloud. But without the ability to generate/store E2EE keys it can’t use ADP. For ADP E2EE to be fully end to end, all devices signed into that iCloud account must be able to support it.
