# Apple Publishes Source Code for Their Cryptography on GitHub

Apple has [published](https://security.apple.com/blog/formal-verification-corecrypto/) the source code for their `corecrypto` libraries on GitHub, along with the tools and formal verification libraries they used to evaluate their cryptography, so independent cryptography experts can verify it for themselves.

It means that apple is taking serious steps to ensure their cryptography is bug free.

The article left completely open whether they plan to make the shared library reproducible so users can verify their OS is running that particular source.

Apple seems to have good cryptographic tools, like iMessage is roughly on par with Signal on security properties. But proprietary crypto has been found to be less trustworthy. This lesson is decades old [Crypto AG - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crypto_AG)

Use of Apple ecosystem requires blind trust in Apple. Keep that in mind when using their products.
