There is no news, because it is still not available for use on macOS nor iPadOS.

From what I have seen it appears likely that developers _can_ enable MIE for their apps on macOS today, but this is undocumented, and I have not yet seen any indication it is being used on the macOS kernel or other system components like it is on iOS.
