Hi everone! I bought a second-hand Fairphone 5 and started using PostmarketOS with it. I installed waydroid and it works pretty great!
I see that generally people use aurora store or (sandboxed) Google Play for closed-source apps, but what about using obtainium with ApkPure/Aptoide/Uptodown as sources for them?
Which of the above three do you prefer in terms of security? Do you know if any of them is more up to date in terms of software versions of apps?

If security is the main concern, I would not put any of those three in the same bucket as the developer’s own download page, F-Droid, or Play/Aurora. With APK mirrors you are trusting their update pipeline as much as the app developer. I’d first see whether Obtainium can follow the app’s official releases directly; if not, use a mirror only per-app, check the package name/signing certificate, and avoid making it your general store. Between those three, Uptodown is usually clearer about versions, but I’d still treat it as a fallback rather than the safest option.
I am putting privacy over security: I do not want to connect to google’s servers and to let them see a list of apps which I have installed. What I’m asking is which of ApkPure/Aptoide/Uptodown do you think is more secure. I think they have similar level of privacy.
What you just said is very difficult to answer, so I’ll put it this way: it requires internal server data, how they manage it, and so on.
I’ll just give you my advice: Use the official website through your browser to download the apps, not through their app—and based on my limited observation, that would be Uptodown.
The decision is yours.

I think I will use Uptodown for now because the two replies I got recommend it.
I don’t really know a lot about Uptodown, but it seems they check and review their submissions. If possible I’d use APKMirror.
It seems that APKMirror doesn’t work with obtainium.
